Student Outreach

Please follow these instructions for administering the student outreach surveys (i.e., two hours or less of AREN-based programming).  We recommend that you read over the instructions prior to starting the administration.  It may be helpful to create a sign with some simple instructions for the survey.  This short survey is estimated to take only a minute or two to complete.

Online Version Instructions:

Materials needed: computer or tablet, internet access, access to electricity

  1. Navigate to the survey on a computer or tablet: https://tinyurl.com/ARENstushort
  2. Have a computer or tablet with the survey open and available for people to complete as they finish their engagement.
  3. Reload the survey page between uses.
  4. After the event, please complete the Facilitator Event Information form: https://tinyurl.com/ARENevent.  This form is to be completed once by the event facilitator, not by event attendees.

Paper Version Instructions:

  1. Before the event, print as many copies as needed. The paper version of the survey can be downloaded by clicking here.
  2. Have surveys to hand out to students as they finish their engagement. If available, NASA/AREN stickers may be used as an incentive for students to complete the survey.
  3. Have a box of dark pens or pencils available for students to complete the survey. If needed, parents/guardians should be allowed to help their students complete the survey.
  4. To ensure anonymity, please have a box available for people to place their completed surveys in rather than collecting them individually.
  5. After the event, scan the completed surveys to a PDF (please make sure that all pages are oriented the same way). Please email the scanned responses to ARENeval@horizon-research.com.  If scanning to PDF is not feasible, you may return via mail (please email us to let us know).  If multiple events are being done in a short time frame, please keep surveys for each event separate and denote which event each set of surveys is related to.
  6. After the event, please complete the Facilitator Event Information form: https://tinyurl.com/ARENevent. This form is to be completed once by the event facilitator, not by event attendees.
