Horizon Research, Inc. is partnering with the Department of Mathematics at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and Education Development Center to conduct an exploratory study of middle grades students’ record keeping (RK) while solving geometry problems. The study examines what features of tasks promote RK, and how students’ RK aids them in solving problems and communicating their solutions, with specific attention to differences in results for English Language Learning (ELL) and non-ELL students.
