    Evelyn M. Gordon, Senior Researcher at Horizon Research, Inc. (HRI), received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to coming to HRI in 2009, Dr. Gordon taught mathematics at the high school and college levels. Her high school level teaching in Chapel Hill, NC focused on mathematics instruction for at-risk students. Her college teaching experience included general mathematics courses and mathematics content courses for elementary and secondary pre-service and in-service teachers, in both undergraduate and graduate programs. At HRI, Dr. Gordon was Co-PI of Mathematical Record Keeping Supports Cognition and Communication, and she has worked on projects including Fostering Mathematics Success of English Language Learners, Math and Science Partnership Knowledge Management and Dissemination, NSSME+, and Peers Engaged as Resources for Learning. She participated in the evaluations of numerous projects, including Cases of Reasoning and Proving in Secondary Mathematics; Geometry Assessments for Secondary Teachers; Mathematical Discourse in Secondary Classrooms; and Broadening Participation of Latina/o Students in Engineering Using an Integrated Mathematics, Engineering, and Computing Curriculum in Authentic, Out-of-School Environments (AOLME). Dr. Gordon currently is a senior researcher on the Mathematical Immersion for Secondary Teachers at Scale project. She also manages the evaluations of the Building on MOSTs project, the Analyzing Instruction in Mathematics using the Teaching for Robust Understanding Framework project, and the American Museum of Natural History’s Master of Arts in Teaching TQP grant.
