This report details a study of the predictive validity of the LSC Classroom Observation Protocol (COP). Although face validity of the COP has been established through expert review, no other studies of the COP’s validity have been undertaken. The study examined the extent to which observer ratings of the quality of classroom instruction using the COP was correlated with student learning gains.
