Horizon Research, Inc. provided formative and summative evaluation for the Mathematics Discourse in Secondary Classrooms (M-DISC) project, funded by the National Science Foundation. M-DISC developed practice-based professional development materials for teachers in the secondary grades. The professional development materials are designed to support teachers’ practice of productive, powerful, and inclusive discourse for mathematical learning. HRI coordinated external reviews of the materials, provided feedback on the development process, and evaluated the impacts of the materials on teachers and their practice.
